“Maru”

Marulu Val Vol Yelvori, known simply as Maru, is a Simurian diplomat sent by his people to establish peaceful relations with Earth. Dispatched as an inspector to Japan, the planet's cursed energy capital, he is partnered with the Okkotsu siblings to investigate incidents while coexistence between humans and Simurians is evaluated. Maru is a warm and idealistic individual who genuinely desires to be good neighbors with humanity, though beneath his cheerful exterior lies a fierce warrior pride and a deep pain rooted in his past on Simuria. He is the older twin brother of Cross Val Vol Yelvori.
Raised by his mentor Dura Val Bobbidi Mechika after the deaths of his parents, Maru's entire philosophy of peace was shaped by Dura's example. The revelation of Dura's fate — killed in a rigged Trial by Combat engineered by the Deskunte chieftain — becomes the emotional engine that drives Maru through the series' most punishing chapters. His Chaos and Harmony technique, when deployed at full capacity, alters the battlefield itself; his Third Eye ability allows him to perceive the true nature of cursed techniques. By the series' conclusion, Maru has become not only the first Simurian formally welcomed as a permanent resident of Earth, but a living symbol of what coexistence can look like when it is earned rather than imposed.
Maru's primary technique that warps local reality by altering the laws of order. Applications include levitating objects, freezing or boiling water instantly, reversing gravity, altering trajectories mid-air, accelerating plant growth, and mentally disorienting opponents. Its sub-ability, Harmony, allows Maru to locate and bring together individuals who are each other's equal.
A third eye on Maru's forehead which he usually covers with a bandage. When left open — typically when Maru is unconscious — it activates an ability that disorients anyone his gaze falls upon. His unconscious state while using it causes him to attack indiscriminately, including allies.
Raised under the Rumelian warrior tradition, Maru possesses exceptional combat capability even without heavy reliance on his cursed technique. He is strong enough to fight on par with Tsurugi Okkotsu, who inherited Maki Zenin's Heavenly Restriction.
