Chapter 17: Chaos and Harmony
The arc reaches its climax as Dabura confronts the Great Purification Ritual's violent interference with the Kalyans — Simurian spiritual beings — which Osuki interpreted as an attack. The misunderstanding has pushed both sides to the edge of all-out war. Maru stands between two armies, alone, and speaks — not as a warrior, but as the diplomat Dura raised him to be. The vote passes, narrowly and conditionally, and the Simurians are granted provisional residency. Maru weeps, and for once does not try to hide it.
