Maki Zenin is the grandmother of Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, and one of the most formidable close-combat sorcerers in the history of Jujutsu High. Born into the Zenin clan without cursed energy due to her Heavenly Restriction, she was persecuted by her own family until she dismantled the clan entirely following her twin sister Mai's sacrifice. She later married Yuta Okkotsu and had a son, Iori. Maki passed away of old age before the events of Modulo, but her influence is deeply felt through Tsurugi, who inherited her Heavenly Restriction, her fighting style, and her fierce refusal to be defined by others' expectations. In Modulo, Maki exists as a presence rather than a character — the shape of a person who was so completely herself that the outline of her is still visible in the people she left behind. Tsurugi's stubbornness, his physical mastery, his insistence on earning respect rather than inheriting it: all of it traces back to her.
Maki's innate condition that stripped her of all cursed energy in exchange for physical capabilities far beyond any normal human — eventually surpassing even Special Grade sorcerers in raw combat power. This same restriction was inherited by her grandson Tsurugi.
Maki was a peerless cursed tool wielder, capable of using any weapon with extraordinary precision and lethality to compensate for her lack of innate cursed technique. Her signature weapon was a replica Split Soul Katana forged by her twin sister Mai.
