CURSE USER

Masaki

Masayoshi (real name)

First Appearance: Chapter 4

Biography

Masaki is an elderly curse user who has been disguising himself as a first-grade elementary school student for three consecutive years. Using a shapeshifting ability that requires human skin as material, he maintains a child's appearance while employing a guardian shikigami linked to his deceased mother's lingering spirit. Years prior, he suffered a catastrophic defeat at the hands of Yuji Itadori and has been in hiding since. His refusal to progress beyond first grade is attributed by Tsurugi to possible senility — his cursed technique slowly spiraling out of his control as age catches up with him. Masaki's investigation is Modulo's most quietly melancholic standalone case: a man who was once powerful enough to attract Yuji's attention, now reduced to hiding among children because moving forward means admitting how much he has lost.

Combat Styles

Maternal Wraith's Fury: Marmalade Boy

Masaki's technique, named after the 1992 romantic comedy manga. It comes with a cenobite-like seamstress shikigami that fights in tandem with him and can use his technique to a limited extent, including performing feints by impersonating Masaki himself. His primary weapon is a large sewing needle.

Shapeshifting

Masaki can alter his physical appearance to a significant degree, using human skin as a crafting material. This allows him to maintain a convincing child disguise over extended periods.
