Spejo Karaba

Spejo Karaba is Dabura's younger sister, who was taken hostage by the Deskunte chieftain and placed under a death curse to force Dabura's compliance — including compelling him to kill his best friend Dura in a Trial by Combat. She fled Simuria with Dabura and the Rumelians, remaining under threat of the curse for the duration of the journey to Earth. When Maru secures the Black Rope — a tool capable of dispelling the curse — Spejo and Dabura are finally free to return home and exact revenge on the chieftain. Unlike most female Rumelians, Maru notes she may be capable of using cursed energy directly. Spejo's presence in the story is quiet but load-bearing: she is the reason Dabura did the thing he can never undo, and her eventual freedom is the only form of resolution that loss can take.
